Five things to do in the Dubai Mall for free!

A trip to Dubai is not complete without heading to one of the city’s largest and most luxurious shopping malls, and the best bit is you don’t even have to spend any money here to see some cool sights. The Dubai Mall is the perfect place to head to if you want to take a day out from the sunshine and stay indoors in cooler climates. The Mall has plenty of things for you to discover and we’ve put together the top five you should definitely check out. If you are looking at doing a trip to Dubai on a budget then Holiday Genie have all the tips you need. What do you think?

Burj Khalifa

The world’s tallest building stands just outside of The Dubai Mall. Tourists who do not wish to head up the 830-meter skyscraper can simply admire views from the ground with the Dubai Fountains in front of it. Capture the Burj Khalifa at night and see the building with beautiful projections and lights gleam. For even more incredible views, visitors can pay to head up the building and experience stunning views of the city from the observation deck located on the 124th floor.

The Dubai Fountains

The Dubai Fountains are not to be missed on your trip to the mall, especially as they are the world’s largest fountains. We recommend visiting the fountains during the evening as the show is illuminated by over 6,000 lights. Performances are in tune with classical, contemporary, Arabic and world music. You can catch the performances at 1 pm and 1:30 pm, as well as every 30 minutes, starting from 6 pm. These carry on till 10 pm on weekdays and 11 pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Aquarium

Be stunned at the main entrance of the Mall by the aquarium, home to some amazing sea creatures. Visitors at the Dubai Mall will be able to see sharks, stingrays and many fish from a viewing area located in the Mall. For those wishing to discover more marine life, an admission fee is applicable and guests can interact more and can even get up close and personal with the resident sharks in a cage dive.

Dubai Dino

Head to the Souk Dome in the Mall and step back into prehistoric times and visit the 155-million-year-old dinosaur skeleton. Explore the Jurassic period and observe the seven meters tall and 24 meters long Diplodocus Longus which roamed the world many years ago. Kids will love the display and will even learn a thing or two with the interactive display.

Shopping

Dubai boasts excellent shopping and what better place to do this than The Dubai Mall. Even window shopping can be fun with extravagant displays – particularly in Ramadan time. From Gucci to Sephora, you’ll be spoilt for choice of shops to visit. If all the shopping has worn you out, you can even get a taxi to take you around the mall for that extra luxury experience.

We hope this has made you want to head on a holiday to Dubai and soak up the beautiful sunshine as well as experiencing the best shopping of your life. Let us know what your top tips and things to do on a sunny getaway on our Facebook and Twitter pages!
