There is nothing better to get you into the festive spirit than with a Christmas shopping trip to New York! Not only is it a wonderful time of the year to visit the Big Apple as it is transformed into a winter wonderland but you can also save significant amounts off your shopping compared to the same shopping experience in London. So what can be better, book a package holiday to New York, complete all of your Christmas shopping and save loads of money! Plus, spending Christmas in New York is just something else!
Let’s see why Christmas shopping in New York is so great!
A recent survey by Post Office Travel Money discovered that there were savings of up to 73% in New York versus London on top fashion products, for example a pair of Hollister jeans in London cost £59.00, in New York just over £16.00. There were plenty of other examples which included ladies Abercrombie and Fitch tracksuit bottoms which in London cost £58.00 compared to New York at just over £25.00. A very popular toy with children this year is the Snow Glow Elsa Doll from the film Frozen, it is in high demand in London and it would cost you £34.99 but in New York under £25.00! The survey did highlight that although fashion items, lingerie and certain toys generally cost less in New York perfume tends to be the same or higher.
New York has such a variety of great shops it can be overwhelming deciding where you should head first to find those Christmas bargains. The department stores have such an incredible choice of designer fashion brands, cosmetics, perfumes and so on, I would suggest starting at any of these shops in New York:
- Bergdorf Goodman
- Macy’s Herald Square
- Saks Fifth Avenue
They also put on marvellous window displays at Christmas, so take your camera with you on your New York shopping trip.
Then if you require an extra special Christmas present you can find Tiffany and Company at 727 5th Avenue, a stunning jewellery store with all purchases wrapped in their iconic blue box. For trainers there is the NBA Store on Fifth Avenue and 52nd Street as well as Modell’s, Sports Authority and Foot Locker at various locations.
I recommend a visit (even if you don’t have children to buy for) to the New York toy shops at Christmas to admire their wonderful Christmas displays, head to FAO Schwarz on 767 Fifth Avenue and the toy sections of the department stores.
Happy Christmas Shopping!
